LAND Reform Minister Utoni Nujoma this morning refused to accept a petition by a group comprising mainly of Ovaherero and Nama people against the dismissal of outspoken former deputy minister of Land Refom Bernardus Swartbooi and the manner in which Nujoma handles the resettlement process in the southern region.
Nujoma who allegedly drove off without receiving the petition had sent permanent secretary in the Office of the President Samuel /Gỏagoseb accompanied by top cops including Khomas regional police commander Henrich Tjiveza to accept the petition on his behalf. The move angered those who marched from Katutura to the Ministry of Land Reform in Windhoek, saying they either want Nujoma, Presidential Affairs minister Frans Kapofi or Priscilla Boois who has been appointed as the new deputy minister in the lands ministry. The group threatened to camp outside lands ministry office until Nujoma receives their petition.
The group vowed to stay put until their petition is received.
