Namibian amateur boxers’ skills will be taken to the ropes next month when boxers from the 14-political regions trade blows before they retire to the respective regions for the festive season.
A media release by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy read that the platform will give amateur boxers from all over the country an opportunity to display their boxing skills at the MTC national tournament.
The tournament scheduled over three days from 08 to 10 December will take place at the A. Shipena Senior Secondary School hall.
Apart from the regions both the Namibian Police (Nampol) and the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) will feature their respective boxers in the ten different weight divisions.
“We deem it important to create opportunities for amateur boxers because all our professional boxers have come through the amateur ranks. We view this as real development, and we would of course like to see more amateur fights being organized by the Namibia Boxing Federation who are tasked with this responsibility. We would like to encourage all amateur boxers in all the regions irrespective of affiliation to come and take advantage of the platform to display their skills. This tournament is for all Namibian amateur boxers,” said Tobias.
