IN a humanitarian move, renowned ophthalmologist Dr Helena Ndume recently travelled to Kinshasa in DRC on invitation by famous and retired Congolese-American NBA Basketball legend Dikembe Mutombo to operate on people who have problems seeing.
Ndume was approached by Mutombo’s Foundation through the Surgical Eye Expeditions International to help cure people in that country suffering from blindness caused by cataracts, a cloudiness that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye and affects over six million Africans.
