DIAMOND mining stewards, Namdeb and Debmarine are on autopilot as they are both operating without Boards of Directors with the former also functioning without a Chief Executive Officer for over a month, Confidente has learnt.
The development that is threatening the two entities and the diamond mining sector as a whole has seen government neglecting a Namibia and De Beers partnership that contributes over N$ 3billion to state revenue annually and is responsible for one in every N$4 of Namibia’s export earnings.
Debmarine’s predicament came over a month ago after government fired the entire board of directors of the entity led by Diamond Commissioner, Kennedy Hamutenya three years before its term of office was to end, Confidente can reveal.
