PASTOR Vilho Paulus of the beleaguered Jesus Christ Ministry (JCM) in Katutura recently admitted to having adulterous relationships with his followers adding that several children were sired from the unholy unions.
The clergyman, who calls himself Jesus Christ, was however quick to note that the children were spiritual and came from heaven. He added that while some carry his surname others use that of their mothers.
“Some of them are on my surname, others are on the other surnames because that is what we have decided, (sic) we decided that the children came from heaven,” he bizarrely declared.
During questioning by the Namibian Police over allegations of misleading his congregants by using the word of God to trick his female followers into sleeping with him recently, the pastor said that one of the women came on to him.
“The said woman came to me and told me that she had a vision about two men in her life. The two men included me and her fiancé at the time. She didn’t know who to choose so she asked for my advice. I gave her a few teachings and told her to choose. She chose me,” the pastor explained.
Police over the weekend temporarily shut down the church over rife reports of misleading the community, noise pollution and defamation for allegedly pitting mostly family members or close friends against each other.
A decision whether to permanently keep the church out of operation will be reached tomorrow when various stakeholders including the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN) meet to discuss the matter.
While his followers are against the closure, many argue that the pastor crossed the line and called for measures to deal with such cases. “It is unheard of that the son of God, Jesus Christ is alive when the Bible states otherwise. The fact that he calls himself Jesus Christ is a concern and shows just how much he should not be allowed to continue preaching. Although the Constitution says that people are allowed to worship their religion of choice, there are too many puzzling activities at the church that need to be dealt with.” The clergyman made headlines in local media six years ago when several women of his flock accused him of having sex with them at the Parliament Gardens.
The pastor allegedly lured the women to the Parliament Gardens that he refers to as the ‘House of God’ before conducting private sermons and ultimately sleeping with them.
At the time the pastor denied the allegations saying the women misunderstood his Bible teachings.
