A total 453 workers were retrenched between June and September this year, documents from the Labour Commissioner’s office reveal. The retrenchments which may be a result of socio-economic challenges wielding the axe on corporate entities undermines government’s plans to eradicate poverty as well as threaten to stretch the current 29, 6 percent unemployment rate to alarming rates.
