FORMER brave warriors’ midfielder and Hamburg defender, Collin Benjamin has joined the national senior football team the Brave Warriors’ technical committee as third in command. Benjamin’s addition to the brave warriors’ technical team was announced on Wednesday by brave warriors head coach Ricardo Mannetti at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Girls Centre. Mannetti said Benjamin has an important role to play at the national team because of his expertise and professional exposure. Mannetti said the former German-based international will be his third in command at the national team‘s technical committee saying Benjamin addition to the team will produce results for the national team because of his skills and exposure earned internationally. Born in 1978, the retired football midfielder said he has considered joining the brace warriors’ technical team as a calling and that he would be assisting wherever he can. Benjamin recently assisted with the organising of the local qualifiers for the Brazilian Neymar Jr five-a-side world cup, and also co-established the HopSol Youth League in Windhoek. In 2008, Benjamin was the first Namibian football to feature in the EUFA Champions League, and also had a stint captaining the national senior team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers. He will have his first national duty as assistant coach during the Brave Warriors’ clash against Zambia in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers penciled for Sam Nujoma stadium on 8 September.
